CROTALIA ... The Latin term comes from the Greek word "Krotalos". (A simple musical instrument, as it consisted of two small bowls connected by a cord, i.e. castanets!) When worn, the earrings make a tinkling, clattering noise and have been used since the early Imperial Era of the 1st century AD. very popular with the Roman women.
