"Perla Rosetta" hoop earrings with chevron glass beads
Hoop earrings with handmade chevron beads made of Murano glass, topped with a disc of real coral, wrapped on delicate gold wire.
The first chevron beads were made in Venice around the 14th century.
They consisted of several layers of different colored glasses. These pearls show the classic design: a 12-point star, with a structure in 6 layers.
In the 16th century the pearls came to Amsterdam together with the Venetian glassblowers and from there they spread all over the world.
The very elaborate handicraft makes them highly coveted collector's items around the world to this day.
